Yesterday was mine and Robbie's 1st wedding anniversary. I can't believe we have been married for one year already. This year seemed to fly by.
Robbie took me to Fleming's Steakhouse at the Gateway for dinner last night. It was so nice! We got all dressed up and ate some of the most amazing food I've ever had. He also got me a bouquet of pink roses and a really sweet card. I love my hubbie. =)
We were going to stay at Anniversary Inn, but we decided that since we have a baby on the way we could use that $300 to get things that we need for him. I don't mind at all though. After dinner we just cuddled on the couch and watched a movie, and we still took today off to just relax and spend some time together.
A lot has happened in our first year of marriage. We bought a house, we have a baby boy on the way, and our relationship just keeps getting stronger and better. We've been through some stressful times, but in the midst of the arguments and screaming matches we made it through and realized that we never want to be without each other.
I love you, honey. May we have many more happy anniversaries! =)

Weeks 29-32 (Month 7): Squash

"Baby’s energy is surging, thanks to the formation of white fat deposits beneath the skin. (Have those kicks and jabs to the ribs tipped you off yet?) Baby is also settling into sleep and waking cycles, though -- as you’ve also probably noticed -- they don’t necessarily coincide with your own. Also this month, all five senses are finally functional, and the brain and nervous system are going through major developments."
Baby Shower Postponed
My baby shower has been postponed until July 18th. There aren't a lot of people that can make it on June 27th and some things have come up.
My mom is finally going into treatment for her alcoholism and her addiction to methodone. She'll be there for about three weeks and I want to be sure that she can make it to my shower.
Also, my grandma and my aunt Kylee are throwing me the shower and they are low on funds until then, which I understand.
Honestly though, I'm still not happy about it. I was hoping I wouldn't be having my baby shower so close to my due date, but oh well.

28 Weeks

I should have posted this yesterday, but I was so busy that I had no time at all. I left my house at 8:20 in the morning and didn't get home until 11:30 at night. Yeah, it was crazy.
Anyway, as of yesterday I am 28 weeks pregnant. I am officially in the third trimester. There are only 12 weeks left! Well, hopefully. It is very unlikely that Tristan will be born on his due date, but I think he is going to be late. Don't ask me why, I just have this feeling.
We had our first childbirth class yesterday. I thought I knew quite a bit from my reading, but I learned so much. For instance, the nurse told us to make sure that we don't go to the hospital unless I'm in active labor. So, my contractions would be about three to five minutes apart. The reason being, once you get to the hospital you can't eat anything until after you deliver the baby. They also said if you stop to eat something before you go in make sure you only eat carbs, fruits, or vegetables. Otherwise you will be really sick while you are in hard labor and who wants that? Not me.
I also learned that if I want to control how much medicine goes into the epidural, I can. They give you a little hand pump and you disburse the medicine when you need it. They have it set up so that you can't give yourself too much, so I won't be completely dead. I want the medication to be light I have decided. I don't want to feel pain, but I do want to feel pressure so that I know that I am pushing.
I also learned breathing exercises and distraction techniques. The nurse said that they will be helpful even if I'm getting an epidural because the anesthesiologist isn't always ready right away. Also, you have about three contractions while the needle is being placed. Robbie learned some massaging techniques to help me through labor too. So, to make a short story really long, I'm glad I signed up for this class. LOL!
I passed my glucose test. My score was 77 which is normal. Woo hoo! I have mild anemia though, which I expected. My iron score was 32.2 and it's supposed to be above 36 when I'm pregnant. So I have to take 65 mg of iron a day. No big deal really. I'm very thankful that I don't have to take the three hour test. Love ya, Ash. LOL!
There is a lot more that happened yesterday, but I'll stop here and blog later. =)

27 Weeks

I am 27 weeks pregnant today. 13 weeks to go! I'm getting so excited! There are no new updates from yesterday except for one. I woke up this morning, looked down, and saw that I was lactating! OMG! I knew it was coming, but wow. It still freaked me out a little. So, I'm going to buy some nursing pads after writing this so I don't leak all over my clothes. How embarrassing! The joys of being pregnant.

Glucose Test
Okay, so I took my glucose test for gestational diabetes today. Honestly, that orange, sugary drink they give you before they draw your blood is not that bad. Granted it didn't taste good, but I wasn't gagging or having trouble keeping it down. It tasted like that orange Hi-C drink you can get at fast food restaurants, only with more sugar. The sugar rush made Tristan kick like crazy. LOL!
My appointment went well today. I was in there longer than expected because my OB had a patient go into labor, but it's all good. Tristan's heart rate is at 150 BPM which is great. I have only gained four pounds since my last visit. Woo hoo!
The doctor pressed on my belly to measure Tristan and he is totally balled up on my left side. LOL! She didn't seem too concerned. She said that he'll gradually move more towards the center as he gets bigger. I guess he just prefers to hang out on the left side of my body for some reason.
Anyway, everything still looks great and normal so far. Now I just need to wait for my results. Hopefully I pass. =)

26 Weeks

I am 26 weeks pregnant today. 98 days to go! Time is so strange when you are pregnant. It feels like it has taken forever to get to six months, but at the same time it seems like the time is going by incredibly fast. I found out on December 29 that we are expecting. It doesn't seem that long ago.
Tristan and I are doing great. I can see him move from the outside finally. I thought it would never happen. LOL! I was 128 pounds before I got pregnant, I am now 152, so I have gained 24 pounds so far. My OB said that I am on track and there is no need to worry about gaining too much or not enough so that's a relief.
My feet and ankles have been swelling like crazy. If I wear any kind of shoes other than flip flops it feels like I am walking on balloons. LOL! Luckily I sit at a desk at my job all day and I have a little foot rest to prop my feet up on. It's normal, but I still wish they wouldn't swell.
I'm starting to get more and more uncomfortable. I'm getting short of breath. It hurts to get out of bed normally, so I just started rolling out of bed. I still have three months to go, but it's okay. It will be worth it when I get to hold Tristan in my arms for the first time.
I have to take my glucose test in six days. I have heard mixed things about it. I have heard that the orange, sugary drink is so awful I'll have to concentrate on not throwing up and I've heard it really isn't that bad. I guess we'll see.

Weeks 25-28 (month 6): Eggplant

"Let your spouse put an ear to your belly -- he might be able to pick up baby's heartbeat (no stethoscope required). Inside the womb, the formation of tiny capillaries is giving baby a healthy pink glow. Baby's also soaking up your antibodies, getting the immune system ready for life outside the womb. Eyes are forming, and baby will soon perfect the blink -- perfect for batting those freshly grown lashes."
I am six months pregnant! I can hardly believe it. Just 15 more weeks and I'll be holding my baby in my arms. I am so excited. I'll get some updated pics on here soon so you can see how my belly has grown. I'm starting to get linea negra (that dark line that pregnant women get that goes down the middle of your stomach). It's not very attractive, but I knew it was coming.
My baby shower will be on June 27th by the way, so get me your addresses and I'll send you an invite. I gotta go. I have people over, but I will update you soon.
