Time for a New Start
So... I'm thinking of starting a new blog. This one really just started out as a pregnancy blog to keep track of Tristan's growth, my thoughts, experiences of that pregnancy, and his birth. This blog has been dead for a long time and our lives have changed quite a bit since then. I will probably keep it open, just because I like to look back on those memories every once in awhile, but it won't be active. I don't know. What do y'all think?

Randall Family Update
I thought I would give you all a little update on what's going on with the Randall family.
We are all exhausted, but we are doing great. Robbie loves his new job at Carlisle Syntec. He already got a raise and he has only been working there for two months! Woo hoo! He has also been getting lots of overtime since they are short staffed at the moment. The extra cash is nice, but I do miss him. He put in almost 60 hours this week!
Speaking of long hours, I am at full capacity in my daycare again. Thank goodness! I tried to get that last spot filled for months. It's really hard to find families that need daycare for just one child in this state. The only downside is I work 55 hours a week now. I love my job so much and I'm so grateful for it, but it is physically and mentally exhausting taking care of 8 children for that many hours a week.
So, Robbie and I don't get much time together during the week when he is working days and none at all when he is working nights. We have weekends off together, so we try to make the most of those days and spend them doing things as a family. We are going to try to make more time for friends and extended family though. Despite our hectic schedules, I am determined! =)
Tristan is doing so great! He had his 18 month check up two weeks ago. I can't believe my baby boy is a year and half old already. Time goes by way too fast. He is putting 2 to 3 word sentences together and is interested in learning his letters and numbers already. He knows a few letters of the alphabet, but he seems to be much more interested in counting. He can almost count to 10. He starts off with 1, 2, 3, skips 4, 5, 6, and 7, then goes straight to 8, 9, 10. Lol! He is still healthy and happy. I love that little guy more than anything. =)
I'm thinking of taking belly dance again. One of my daycare parents takes a class every Saturday in Salt Lake and one of my friends that I used to dance with in high school dances there on occasion as well. I miss dancing so much and one of my new years resolutions was to take some more time for myself. I think that would be a great way to do it. Plus, I would make some new friends in the process, which is always nice.
All I know is I need some balance in my life. All work and no play makes me super irritable and cranky. Lol! ;)

Last Night
My birthday bash was so much fun! I sang three songs at The Highlander, got drunk, and spent time with some great friends. I don't get to go out and party like that very often, so I took advantage and enjoyed every minute of it. My favorite moment was when my brother sang that 500 miles song from The Proclaimers. Hilarious!!! Thanks again to everyone that came out with us. It was truly a great night!

Laughing With
Okay, I know that I am on a Regina Spektor kick lately, but bare with me here. Most of you are probably aware already that I am NOT a religious person at all, but this song really got to me, so I thought I would post the lyrics.
No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one's laughing at God
When they're starving or freezing or so very poor
No one laughs at God
When the doctor calls after some routine tests
No one's laughing at God
When it's gotten real late and their kid's not back from the party yet
No one laughs at God
When their airplane starts to uncontrollably shake
No one's laughing at God
When they see the one they love hand in hand with someone else
And they hope that they're mistaken
No one laughs at God
When the cops knock on their door
And they say we got some bad news, sir
No one's laughing at God
When there's a famine or fire or flood
But God could be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God themed joke or
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they're 'bout to choke
God could be funny
When told he'll give you money if you just pray the right way
And when presented like a genie who does magic like Houdini
Or grants wishes like Jiminy Cricket and Santa Claus
God can be so hilarious... HA HA
HA HA...
No one laughs at God in a hospital
No one laughs at God in a war
No one's laughing at God
When they've lost all they've got and they don't know what for
No one laughs at God
On the day they realize that the last sight they'll ever see
Is a pair of hateful eyes
No one's laughing at God
When they're saying their goodbyes
But God could be funny
At a cocktail party when listening to a good God themed joke or
Or when the crazies say He hates us
And they get so red in the head you think they're 'bout to choke
God could be funny
When told he'll give you money if you just pray the right way

Gratitude and Karaoke
So... we are 8 days into 2011. I have kept my promise to myself and started a gratitude list. I am going to list one thing I am grateful for every day of the year. Here is what I have so far:
1. I am grateful for my husband, Robbie.
2. I am grateful for my son, Tristan.
3. I am grateful for my daycare business, Rising Sun Fun Care.
4. I am grateful for Robbie's new job at Carlisle Syntec.
5. I am grateful for my beautiful, little house.
6. I am grateful for being able to stay home with Tristan.
7. I am grateful for having two running vehicles.
8. I am grateful that my CPR renewal class was only an hour and a half long.
Some of these might seem silly to most of you, but I'm trying to practice not taking anything for granted, even the simplest of things. If I start running out of things to be grateful for, I'll start adding things that I would like to happen in the future and be grateful for those things in the present. If that makes any sense at all. ;)
Next item on this blogging agenda is my birthday Karaoke celebration. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love Karaoke, but this time I am having a hard time picking a song to sing. Robbie and I are going to sing our usual duet "Picture" by Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow, but I don't know what to sing for my solo and I want some time to practice before the 15th. I sang "Crucify" by Tori Amos last time, so I want to do something different. Any suggestions?
I hope to see you there! Even if you don't drink, you should definitely go. It's going to be fun!

Eet
I love this song so much. I love her! Remember when people had soul when they sang? It's girls like Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, and Ke$ha that are in the mainstream these days. I wish there were more women like Regina Spektor, Tori Amos, and Imogen Heap. The world would be a better place. =)

It's gonna be a happy new year!
It's the first day of 2011 and it's off to a decent start so far. 2010 was not a good year for us, financially. We really struggled in that area, but money definitely isn't everything. I accomplished a lot in 2010 and had so many wonderful things happen.
I got my home daycare business up and going and licensed, so I'm able to stay home with Tristan. I love spending so much time with him and watching him learn and grow. I love my job too, and I don't think there are many people who can say that these days.
Robbie and I have been together for 4 years now. Our marriage was a little rocky in 2010, but we pushed through all of the financial and business struggles we endured and we're still madly in love. I can't imagine life without my hubbie.
Robbie is going to start a new job next week! It's at a company called Carlisle Syntec here in Tooele. He'll be a Production Line Operator. Basically, the same thing he is doing now, only he will be working 3 miles from home, getting a pay raise, and full benefits for our family. What a great way to start 2011! I am so proud of him.
As far as resolutions go, there are a few things I would like to do differently this year. First on the agenda, I need a major personality makeover. I have become really bitchy, mean, bitter, easily angered, and just all around unpleasant lately. I have pretty much turned into everything I hate. I don't know why this happened or how, but I really do want to change. I hate that I have become so horrible and that I have pushed all of my friends away. No one wants to be around me and I don't really blame them.
I used to be so vibrant, fun, smiling, laughing, full of life! It's like the fire I had burning in my heart was put out. It's not even smoldering anymore, it's just done burning all together. I'm hoping to rekindle my heart and get the old Sunny back, if my friends and family will even talk to me anymore.
In 2011, I want to take more time for me. In 2010, I put so much focus and energy into Tristan and Rising Sun Fun Care that my marriage, friends and family, and me time got put on the back burner. No matter how busy I get, I'm going to make sure I set some time aside every week to spend with the people that love me the most, and take care of myself too.
My last resolution is to make a gratitude list. Every day this year, I am going to list one thing I am grateful for, so I will have a list of 365 things to remind me of how lucky I really am. I have had a negative attitude and outlook on life recently, and I'm going to turn that around. It's time to start appreciating what I have right now and stop wishing for more, more, more! I have a feeling that I will be much happier once I realize how much I really have in this life.
Happy new year, everyone! I hope 2011 brings you all health, wealth, and happiness!
